How Not to Break Into a Honda Civic
You wouldn’t think I’d have to move all the way to Austin, TX to have my car broken into for the first (and second) time. Austin is so friendly. Compared to the East coast, everyone here is so laid back and ‘hey, whatever.’ But, I guess criminals - even bad ones - have to have something to do at night. I think what bothers me most (besides the cost of fixing the damage) is that this guy who keeps trying to get into my car, SUCKS at it.
The first time he stopped by was on August 20th. He jammed a screwdriver into my door lock, got spooked and took off before he could get in. The cops tell me the screwdriver technique doesn’t work on cars made after 1980. After that, I started taking the faceplate off my stereo, just to be safe. The second time he dropped in was September 13, just a few short weeks later. It was the first night I had forgotten to take my face plate off in three weeks. This time, he smashed my window, leaned in for my stereo, realized it wasn’t going to come out easily, got spooked and took off before he could get anything. Jef happened to be awake at 5 AM and heard it happen, called 911 and woke me up. This guy clearly has no plan before he comes out at night - and I’m willing to bet he doesn’t have much experience either. I guess theft has a Catch-22 like anything - you can’t get a job without experience, but you can’t have experience unless you get out there and try. Well, buddy - you’ve gotten no where with my car in the two times you’ve tried. Please move on. It’s pissing me off. :)
