I went to Harrisburg this past weekend for Jen’s 30th b-day party. My sister hasn’t had a blowout for any of her milestone birthdays, so she decided 30 would be a good year to start. She was treated to a day of beauty by her friend Kenny, which included a facial, professional makeup lesson and a haircut. We hit a department store for a last minute outfit, and were successful despite the time crunch. Vern had booked three adjoining rooms at a hotel near downtown Harrisburg - the middle room a large suite for the party, and smaller ones on either side for the kids to hang out. He and the girls filled the place with decorations, balloons and flowers and people followed shortly after we arrived. The soiree went on until the wee hours of the night, mostly due to Vern’s boss, Misho, entrancing us with his stories. Jen looked beautiful, and I know she felt it. With her haircut, her clothes, and her blue eyes (even bluer due to the powers of a little makeup), she laughed all night. I don’t know if it was worth waiting 30 years for, but she seemed to enjoy herself and that counts for something. :) Happy Birthday, sister of mine. Pics are here.
