Cold Christmas
I was back east with Mom for Christmas, half in Philly and half in Connecticut. The visit was GREAT (albeit FREEZING). We managed to pack in several weeks worth of activities in just a few days, without feeling stressed or worn out. Including (but not limited to) stopping by my FIRST job (ever) and running into my FIRST boyfriend (ever) at the same shop. We’re talking first kiss here, people. I know things like this are bound to happen when you only go back every few years, but come on! He and his wife hadn’t been to that shop in ages, and decided the night before they HAD to go. We had planned to go early, but at the last minute decided to have lunch first and then go. Had either of us changed our plans by even 10 minutes, we would have missed each other completely. I love when the universe tells us so blatantly that it knows better than us, and to just chill.
We also got to see the girls (my nieces - they were at their Dad’s in CT for Christmas), and later that night have a semi-gourmet meal with Lenny (five courses!).
I miss a lot of things about Connecticut, and am always a little homesick when I leave, but Austin has definately become my home. It’s comforting to be back here. I love my apartment, my friends, my life, (the weather!).
Here are some pics from the trip. I couldn’t find my camera before I left, so I borrowed one of Jef’s. Funny enough, after turning my apartment upside down AND stopping by the office at midnight the night before my flight - it was sitting on my kitchen counter, plain as day, when I got home last night.
