e-Media - Katinger is collecting memories from the most brilliant, painful, wonderful, stressful and DRUNKEST three years of my life. If you know the company, go there to weep. If you don’t, go there to point and laugh.
I went to a free screening of In Good Company last week and a security guard asked to see our cell phones while we were in line. When we were told all phones w/ cameras had to be returned to our car, Jef said “In all due respect, do you really think I’m going to pirate this film one frame at a time?” The security guard just shrugged and stated new policy. I understand pirating is a problem (for them), but we were never asked if we had an actual camera or camcorder - just if we had a camera phone.
I wish I’d been the one to overhear it, but no, I was the one to say it. My friend, Liz, is a professional opera singer and Thursday was not only my first time seeing her perform, but it was also my first opera (Elektra- short and violent, just how I expected opera NOT to be). I was sharing a ticket with her friend, Justin, who is a baritone and attending Julliard in a few weeks. When the show was over and we were all having a beer at LoveJoys, I gave him a hug and thanked him for ‘popping my opera cherry’. It seemed classy and appropriate.
