Freaudian Slip of the Day…
From an IM w/ my friend, Zach.
zach: Funny thing just happened
zach: I went into (HR person)’s cube to talk about something I’m doing w/ UT…
zach: I noticed that she was using white-out, and said “made a mistake, huh?”
zach: She responded, “Yes, one of the rare caucasians.”
zach: (pause)
zach: “One of the rare white guys, eh?”
kristin: Ha! Did she realize her mistake?
zach: No, I said my white guy thing and she didn’t notice.
zach: Then she said, “wait, did I really say caucasian?”

Um, do you really IM with someone in the next cube? Why do I find that hilarious??

Lisa! I share that brilliantly funny IM w/ you and all you comment on is my generation’s inability to walk 10 feet to talk to one another?! Sigh. For the record, our cubes aren’t right NEXT to eachother….. we are at least 3 away.

Oh, well then. That makes perfect sense.
Carry on.

The most beautiful thing about it is that your employers think that you’re both working diligently.
Bad, bad worker bees! You’d never catch me doing anything like that.

You know, I can actually remember IMing with someone who was in the cube RIGHT next to me at e-Media. It wasn’t even a cube, we sat in these pod things (that’s a whole other blog entry), so there was no wall between us, just a weird mesh screen. We could SEE eachother and we were still IMing. As Chrissy mentions, it was certainly to keep up illusions that we were actually “working.”
