September Spring
I have a plant on my porch that was left behind by the last tenant. I have a habit of taking in stray plants (I collected all the abandoned plants at e-Media after the layoffs, most of them survived and are w/ me in Austin. Also… when I’m feeling down, you’ll either find me shoe shopping or in the plant section at Home Depot.) Anyway. This on wasn’t looking so hot. I finally got around to repotting it a few weeks ago and it seems to be doing much better. Last night I even came home and found this! A tiny red flower bud! How sweet! I had no idea it was a flowering plant.

THEN, as if that wasn’t enough, I get up this morning and let Lucy out and see THESE just a few feet from my porch. More flowering goodness! They are in a terrible spot, I assume their presence is an accident - and to that I say “Yay for accidents!”
I love little surprises like this. Especially in September, when the lushness of spring and summer is fading and the rest of my yard is full of dried, crackly, fallen leaves.
