Jaded
I got an email forward this morning from a co-worker w/ a really sweet picture of some animals rescued after Hurricane Katrina. They were being bussed to a shelter in another state until they could be reunited w/ their owners or adopted out to new ones. As cute as it was, we’ve all been inundated by false forwards and I immediately found myself checking it’s validity at Snopes. Well… in THIS instance the email happened to be true (w/ some minor discrepancies), but you can never tell! Always good to check your sources, especially before re-forwarding (which I don’t recommend anyway unless it’s a-proven to be true, b-only sent to the people you KNOW will enjoy it, and c-so funny/cute/meaningful you will just die if you don’t tell someone else). The internet is a vast ocean of information and email forwards are swimming w/ urban legends, scare tactics and stories that are just plain wrong. Do your part. Start here.
And then go look at the picture of the cute doggies on the rescue bus.

Amen Sistah! I am the mean one that hits reply all when someone sends me something stupid like “if you forward this to 10 people an elf will pop up on your screen” and links them to an internet urban legends site with that particular email listed. I have probably pissed quite a few friends and family members off, but it’s one of my pet peeves. You say jaded, I say life experienced…. some say cynical.

I ususally just send it back to everybody who sent it to me, and when they ask why, I say it’s sort of like sending junk mail back to the sender…it annoys them :-)
Cheers!
