Bloglines
I’ve just recently discovered the joy of RSS feeds. I’ve looked into them before, but didn’t really understand the need for them (or, let’s be honest, the concept) until now. With the number of blogs I was checking on a daily basis, and more often than not finding they hadn’t been updated, I realized that was a lot of link clicking to find old content. Now I see what all the fuss is about. With an RSS feed reader, I go to ONE site and all my blogs are right at my fingertips - summarized and highlighted if there is a new post. I’ve added my public bloglines to the link bar, in case your curious what I’m reading.
It’s a neat bit of technology. I won’t go so far as to say that Bloglines is my new Flickr, but it is holding my attention these days.

If you got Tiger on that fancy-schmancy iBook of yours, you can use Safari’s built in rss reader. All the cool kids are doing it. After that we are gonna go jump off a bridge. wanna come?

HEY! I don’t have Tiger (yet)… but I have been told (also because of this post) about RSS widgets and I can’t wait to go home and look. I have not crossed over into the widget world yet, but I’m fascinated. Remind me - do you have a blog?

Also - what feed reader do you use? Safari’s? Is my site updating properly? Bloglines is disappointing me today - it’s showing 2 posts ago as my most current (but other feed readers show it updated fine). Thoughts? Anyone?

Cool…new technology and gadgets and programs are always fun. I can get lost for hours playing with things I don’t need. It’s kinda cool.

Girl! You know how inept I am at this techie stuff, yet totally fascinated. I love Flickr, which in fact is pissing me off this morning… The more I explore Flickr the more I love it though. So I’ll let you figure out this RSS stuff, widgets and all, then unashamedly use your research :-)

UPDATE (and answer to my own question): Bloglines has updated my feed. I emailed their tech support and they confirmed it was an error on their end. Whew!
Ed - I love new gadgets and techy toys. I was talking to our friend at Sasstastic about our tech fascinations and how we get SO focused on one thing and can’t talk about anything else for days, and then when we find something new we let go of the first toy and immerse ourselves in the new one. Not unlike toddlers at Christmas.
Lisa - Of COURSE you can ride my tech coat-tails. How do you think I got here! I have lots of friends who are more tech savvy than me. My friend Josh says we all have to stick together in this crazy world. If we hang out this weekend, I’ll tell you more about RSS feeds. In the meantime, go here - it will give you an idea. Those are all the sites that I read on a daily basis - this site just keeps them all in one place, so I don’t have to go hiking over all god’s internet creation.

Cool! I like the RSS dealie whopper. good idea. And maybe flickr was updating all that stuff this morning, which is what was irritating me. I set up a set, Day 2 of Disney, and it kept timing out and “error” ing.
