250,000
This is one of the most visually stunning things I’ve ever seen. I just watched it three times, back to back. I can’t get enough of it. The music, the colors… I think it’s beautiful. It makes me smile. Then to look at the other videos, see what went into the production, realize that it has NO CGI - it really is 250,000 superballs being hurled down a hill in San Francisco - I’m even more impressed.
“Set to the stripped-down acoustic sound of José González, 250,000 ’superballs’ come flying, in slow motion, over the brow of a typical street in San Francisco, raining down on anything that gets in their way. And it was done without computer graphics. More…
UPDATE (10/31/05 9:38 AM)- I couldn’t get the song from this video out of my head, so I looked it up. The artist is José González and the song is called Heartbeats, and you can listen to it on his MySpace page.

Awesome! Thanks for the edits - the low res. that is a cool song too. So the frog? That’s my favorite part. Of course.

That is really cool. What does it say about me that the first reaction I had to it was, “Damn, who had to clean all of that up at the end?”…

Lisa: Jef clued me in that the high res wasn’t working on most PCs (and the player you need to watch it is buggy), so I added the low res verstion too. At some point, I’ll bring my iBook so you can see the bigger version. I’m in love w/ it.
Tim: I had the exact same reaction (after I picked my jaw up off the floor). If you can see the “behind the scense” clip (it’s high res, so it might not work well on a PC), you see some of the cleanup. They had huge nets at the bottom of the hill and a lot of assistants w/ rake things getting them out of the bushes.

nooner12 - yeah…. the first thought to flash through my mind was oh my god, an environmental disaster!. Once I got over that, I was able to enjoy ther rest of it.
Man, I would have hated to be an assistant on that shoot!! So cool, though…
