I don’t ride on party-buses all that often, but this weekend I was on TWO!

I went to Wurstfest on Friday. “A ten day salute to sausage.” Also known as “Betcha didn’t know you could put all these foods on a stick!” It was one of the craziest things I’ve ever witnessed. Jef’s friends from work rented a couple of buses and we all brought coolers and drank on the way there (aside from being fun in itself, saved us a little money on beer at the festival). We hit the food concessions when we first got there and I walked thru the building with my mouth hanging open, unable to comprehend what I was seeing. The food, the people, the outfits, the hats. The HATS. Everyone was wearing some kind of food item or animal on their head. Sequin clothing was optional, but apparently encouraged. There was leiterhosen (at least I expected those) and besides sausage, there was porkchops, sausage cheese balls, steak, shrimp, fried chicken. All on sticks.

My second party-bus escapade was Sunday. I went to Dave Chappelle at the Erwin Center with a rep from Comedy Central. There were about 20 of us, I felt like a total imposter. I just barely joined the Interactive team, and even then it’s only 50% of my job. We had drinks and appetizers at Saba, and were bused back to the agency after the show. Chappelle was AWESOME. He made great light of his troubles this year - joking about his wife’s reaction to his walking away from $50 million dollars, or how his one rule was to not randomly yell stuff at inappropriate moments during the show (”Don’t tempt me, haven’t you heard - I’m insane!”). I know I have issues with my job (who doesn’t?), but when things like this happen, it’s hard to complain.
