SXSW 2006
Ack! I just found out two REALLY exciting things about SXSW 2006.
1. Jose Gonzales is coming! If you’ll remember, he is the artist whose music is behind the Sony bouncy ball commercial.
AND
2. Heather Armstrong from Dooce.com is coming. DOOCE! A woman who was fired for blogging (thus creating the slang term ‘dooced‘ - look it up!) and someone I have a bit of an internet crush on.

Oh, how I wish I could be in town for that!!

I KNOW! I can hardly contain myself. I wasn’t even really excited about SXSW until I found these things out. Although, I don’t know that I can see BOTH of these people - you kind of have to pick and choose your wristband/badges (either film, internet or music). So we’ll have to see what happens…

You don’t think Dooce is a little… I don’t know… becoming an overhyped island on to itself?

Well, I came on to the Dooce scene waaaaaay late - only about 6 months ago. So I can see how people who have followed her for a few years could find it’s becoming excessive. But since that’s all I’ve known, I’m enjoying it. Do you have another ‘famous’ blog that you’d recommend? One couldn’t live w/out instead of Dooce? I’m always looking to expand my reading horizons…

First, I want to make it clear that I still do enjoy plenty of sharp-tongued humor to be had at dooce. She clearly has a talent as a blogger, but like any other personal blog, it’s very one-dimensional. So my problem is not that it’s not a good read. I just don’t understand how EVERYONE and their dogs seem to think it’s the best thing since the invention of the web. Whatever… Maybe I’m getting sick of listening to what people’s babies did that day. everyday. I get enough of that work.
Recommendations… I used to dig mightygirl (http://mightygirl.net/) quite a bit but hasn’t kept up for a while.
