Electra & Rambo

With new neighbors, come new neighbor-pets, and when I let Lucy out a few days ago, I found this little girl in our yard. Her name is Electra and she’s a *feisty* little creature. She barked and snarled chased Lucy around the yard very dominantly, but as soon as I bent down to look at her tags she jumped right up in my lap and started licking my hands. She’s a total love, and is apparently making up for her size with a lot of attitude. Since Jef and I are teaching Lucy to do her business in a certain part of the yard, we figured it would be best to block off any little holes so Electra would stay over at her house. No dice. Every day when I let Lucy out, she’s managed to squeeze her little body thru another crack or push some dirt aside to get under the fence. The owner and I finally met - he was very apologetic, and we blocked off as much as we could from both sides. Lucy *loves* having a friend around, and her ‘business’ (if she’s doing any in the yard) is probably super tiny, so for now we won’t make a big fuss.

Lisa should know that Electra has a Beagle buddy in her yard, named Rambo, who’s too big to fit through the fence. All we ever see of him is his little eyes and nose that seem to say “Hey guys, what’s going on over there? Hey? Hey, guys? Can I play?” He’s sooooooo jealous (and he lets us know it). I’d like to arrange for him to come over for a play date soon. In the meantime, this is all we’re going to get of him.

Before I read, I looked at the pictures and said “Hey! How’d my Elway get over there??” Does he bay alot? Little Electra looks fun! Can’t wait to meet ‘em all.

[...] Our next-door neighbor got a new dog a few weeks ago. Not the ones who have the two dogs already, but the one on the other side. We don’t know this neighbor very well. He’s pretty quiet and when we accidentally throw Lucy’s frisbee over the fence, he’s the roll-his-eyes-and-throw-it-back-over-a-week-later kind of neighbor. Anyway. He got a new dog, and he hasn’t stopped barking since they brought him home. 7am. 3pm. 2am. He’s in one part of the backyard, maybe on the porch or in a pen, I can’t tell. He’s got a big-boy bark, so I think he’s full-grown, but no one has seen him. When I play fetch with Lucy in the morning before work, it’s quiet and peaceful and then I throw the first ball and he hears us and starts barking ferociously. Lucy looks at me like like she’s sorry, did she do something wrong? No, baby. We’re in our yard. He’s just scared. [...]
