For those of you who aren’t sure if RSS feeds are for you, or need more interesting ways to describe them to people, this is a creative list of things you can do w/ them besides checking news and blog updates.

35 Ways to Use RSS Today (via LifeHacker)

It’s good because I don’t need a way to check the latest currency exchange rates, but I was *just* looking for a way to monitor the latest on bird flu.

Also, I’m using a new RSS reader called Netvibes. You can’t see my ‘public page’ like you could on Bloglines, but you can see their sample homepage and get a good idea of what it’s all about. I have tabs for Friends, Austin, Tech, Gossip, ETC (home, garden, craft, food, all the stuff that doesn’t fit into neat category). It was a little hard to get used to, but I’ve found my groove w/ it. I like how customizable it is, especially now w/ their new ‘ecosystem‘ - you can drag and drop just about anything you want into the darn thing, determine the layout, background image, (I’m using one of my photos), transparency of the boxes, etc.. It’s still in beta, but it’s going places.
