Happy Independence Day! Actually, if you were like us and didn’t do ANYTHING 4th of July related, it’s more like “Happy Long Weekend!” I can HEAR the fireworks, but we’re not close enough to the city to see them. The neighborhood kids are lighting off the small poppy ones, but nothing w/ pizazz. We actually had quite a bit of rain tonight (and some good heat lightning), so I’m curious to see if the downtown fireworks went off as planned.

So what did I do w/ my long weekend? Well….

Saturday I did a whole lotta nothing. Sunday I did yard work and planted my Dr. Seuss succulent plants.

Sunday night, Ben, Lisa, Jef and I went to the Muppet Sing-Along at the Draft House (have I mentioned lately that I love Austin?). I’d never actually SEEN the original Muppet Movie - Lisa says it’s forgivable since it came out the year I was born, but there were kids there that knew all the words, so I know it’s no excuse. Regardless, it was a GREAT time.

Yesterday Lucy and I went out to the creek with my friend, Mary, and her dogs. It was a GREAT. We hung out in the water, and the dogs played until they collapsed. Lucy even SWAM, and that’s a big deal. She loves creeks, but always stayed on the shore, never going past her chest. So I went into the water and called her to me, and little by little she’d come farther out. By the end of the day she was swimming all around, across the deep end, showing off. She’s still a little wary, but I think a few more sessions and she’ll be a champ.

Jef and I finally got around to hanging all our pictures. Something I’d been avoiding, because even though in my other moves it was one of the first things I did, this time it just seemed so FINAL. “If we hang them, we can never move them EVER AGAIN!” Who’s dramatic? Kristin is. Now the house actually looks lived in. It’s amazing what a difference it makes.

Oh! And we got a hammock! It was on sale, and we had a coupon (story of our life, I know). I was on the fence about it, but now that we have it, I love it. Of course, with the rain, I’ve only been able to hang out in it once and then take pictures of it when it’s been wet… but I have lots of lazy day plans for it.

Damn. I hadn’t posted in awhile. It was like my brain threw-up all over my blog software. I’ll try to space ‘em out again in the future.
