Hey! Guess what I found in the yard this morning?!
An APPLE TREE!

Not to say that I discovered the tree itself, that’s always been there, but the fact that it’s bears fruit is entirely a surprise. I was in the yard and nearly fell over when I saw three good sized apples on it. Come on! First figs, now apples?! This place SERIOUSLY keeps surprising me. Sadly, none of the trees in the front yard are very happy, so I don’t think I’ll have a big apple crop. My friend’s husband is a landscaper, and apparently also good with trees, so I may see if he’d be willing to come by. Some of them have white spots (I’m thinking a fungus) and the others are just sickly and thin. I know NOTHING about trees, so I don’t know if they need water or food or if they have a bug. The old owners seemed somewhat conscious of landscaping for Texas (besides the Tuscan-style evergreen things in the back, which I like, but people are oddly split 50/50 love or hate ‘em), so I’d hope they don’t need too much water other than what we get naturally. I guess we’ll see.

Cool! I want to plant a peach tree but I’m afraid the dogs will get sick from eating them… I’ve never heard of an apple tree in the yard in Austin! Do some checking - it could lead to apple pie and such. :-)
