Ms. Universe
I have a confession. I watched the Ms. Universe pageant tonight. I actually fell asleep to it, but I totally admit to turning it on, and I’ll tell you why. Last week on Project Runway the challenge was to design a dress for Ms. USA. When I saw the pageant was on, it triggered the episode and I wanted to see the dress. As popular as Project Runway is, I think it was a PERFECT tie-in to boost ratings, something televised pageants are desperately struggling with. I’m curious to see how it worked out, or if I was in the minority.

OMG - that’s the same reason I watched. I hate beauty pageants as a rule, but I wanted to see Miss USA in Kayne’s dress. She looked great! I was pulling for Miss Japan, but I did stop watching after the gown part of the competition.
And why was that guy singing waht sounded like a Keane cover in Italian? Biz-arre.

I missed most of the show because I was in and out of sleep, but I was awake to see the Project Runway dress (I had no idea Ms. USA was short - she looked so tall!). I don’t remember the Keane-esque song, but I do remember Carson saying if Ms. Puerto won he might have to switch teams. ;) Her dress was actual chainmail. Super dramatic.
No ratings mention in the trades yet, but now that I know I’m not the only one who watched because of it, I’m convinced it’ll be higher than normal.
