Luxembourgish. Or, A Lesson in Networking.
I’d like to give a shout out to all my European readers. All two of them.
I found my second one when he emailed me this week from Luxembourg. He found me by searching “getting a job at GSD&M.”
I laughed. My loss, his gain. (or something like that)
Connections like that can be creepy, but after a few emails he seems to be making the most of his resources while being overseas, and I can appreciate that. Envy it even. Blogs are nothing if not micro-targeted, and a great way to reach out to people with similar interests in a new city. Get advice about the job market, neighborhoods, who the “cool kids” are. (Kidding. But I’m totally one of them).
I’m not going anywhere soon, but if I were, or for anyone thinking of relocating, consider his approach. It was honest and professional, he didn’t ask me for a job or a reference into the Agency. Just some advice and the answers to a few questions. I feel all important and therefore willing to help.
