Money Can’t Buy Me Love
I was driving to work this morning, and decided it was a ‘Beatles: One’ morning. I don’t know why, that hasn’t graced my CD player in… years.
But I was bopping along , and then…
I’ll buy you a diamond ring my friend, if it makes you feel alright,
I’ll get you anything my friend if it makes you feel alright,
‘Cause I don’t care too much for money, money can’t buy me love.
I’ll give you all I got to give, if you say you love me too,
I may not have a lot to give, but what I got I’ll give to you.
I set it to repeat, over and over. And over and over.
You might roll your eyes, but then you should get over it. Tell someone you love them today. Don’t wait for their birthday. Or Valentines Day. Or an Anniversary. Buy them flowers or a card for no reason. Make them breakfast in bed. Family, friend, lover, whoever.
Because of this line right here, “I may not have a lot to give, but what I got I’ll give to you.” Show someone you mean it.
Why?
a) It’s is a really, really good idea
b) It will hopefully make their day and and maybe their week
c) On the days that the ones who are bipolar don’t take their medication, and you are terrified and mentally exhausted, maybe they’ll see the card you sent them and remember someone loves them. Sometimes it’s all you can do.
So for me. Tell someone you love them today. Everyday. And then sing a Beatles song in your car at the top of your lungs and laugh while you do it. It feels really, really good.
