Postive Reinforcement
Lucy is pretty good about chewing her toys. She should be, she has them stockpiled all over the house for quick access. Ball? I keep that behind the plant stand. Bone? Oh, I keep that under Kristin’s desk. Anyway. We got home late the other night, and moments before I fell happily into bed, I [...]

It’s Dark
Krit: I wish that lamp worked. It’s dark in here.
Jef: The lamp doesn’t work?
Krit: Well, it does. It’s just not plugged in.
Jef: How have you not been eaten by wolves?

Confused
I’ve learned that the weather in Austin can’t make up it’s mind this time of year. 50 degrees, then 80 degrees, then back to 50. I don’t mind so much, but it means my fig tree is starting to bud while it’s losing all it’s leaves.

Holly Days
I know it’s only a few days after Thanksgiving, but I can’t help being a little giddy about Christmas . My friend, Lisa, posted a picture while I was in Pennsylvania of them hanging Christmas lights in 80 degree weather. It made me laugh. It IS harder to get in the spirit in Austin, but [...]
Mom’s Favorite
Whenever I’m around my family I become Jen-Kris and my sister is Kris-Jen. My mom will look right at us, and inevitably say the wrong sister’s name.
Mom: I don’t know why I do that.
Jen: It’s understandable.
Mom: But I clearly know both your names.
Jen: What happens is there’s a list in your head of your [...]

Cacti
More domesticity. Today Jef and I ripped a giant cactus out of our front yard that the last owners had planted in the dumbest location. It had no business in our landscape, let alone in an area where it was forgotten and left to overgrow. The tops were green and prickly, but underneath it was [...]
