Landlords
I love owning a house. I love the fact I can turn up my music, play fetch w/ Lucy in a fenced in yard, plant flowers in the ground, paint the walls. I love that it feels like a home, not just a place to keep my stuff. Now that we’ve been here a year, these are things I can’t ever imaging living without. However, there are also things I’d taken for granted while living in an apartment. A maintenance staff. Landlords to take care of the big, expensive issues. Jef tackles projects I’d never consider, but some things are clearly over our heads. We’re considering calling a general contractor service rather than pricing it out piecemeal. As I type that, I can only imagine the concern this is going to stir up. Know that before we do anything, we’ll do our research. There’s a lawn service here in Austin that has started doing general handyman work (carpentry, electrical, gutters, etc.), and that’s very tempting. It doesn’t look like any of our issues are so big that they warrant a specialist, just a little more knowledge than we have.
Wish us luck. And no more heavy rain until the leak in the roof is fixed. ;)
