Sneezy
I have allergies. Not the every so often kind, but the knock me down, can’t breath, get sick if I don’t take my allergy pills, everyday kind. I’ve been this way since I was a kid. All the allergists I’ve seen say I’m in the top three percent of the population in terms of the level of my allergies as well as how much stuff I’m actually allergic to (i.e., everything on the planet besides foods. Which is weird, right? Most foods are plants, why am I not allergic to those?). I tried doing the shots, but I would move and there would be a whole new set of variables and I’d have to start all over again. Forget that. A few years ago my general practitioner and I found a magic combination of Zyrtec and Singulair and I’ve been snuffle free ever since. Every so often something with sneak through the barrier and I’ll get sneezy, but it’s rare.
I also know I’m allergic to animals, but after awhile I’ve always acclimated to my own pets and that diminishes. Enter Buster and Shorty. I think having two new animals at once is a little much. Lately I’ve gone to bed fine, woken up with my eyes all swollen and poofy. It’s not pretty, it looks like I’ve been crying all night long. I’ve changed the sheets (twice), the pillows are already allergy friendly, so it must be airborne. I tried some eye drops, but that just made it worse. I think I may actually be allergic to the drops. Isn’t that the saddest thing you’ve ever heard?
I’m allergic. To the allergy drops.
