I downloaded an audio book for my iPod this week and it’s changed my whole outlook on my daily commute. My bookclub this month is reading Life of Pi by Yann Martel and I knew a week or so ago, when the month was flitting away, there was no way I’d get to the bookstore to get it AND read it. Enter audio download. Right now I’m on MP3 number 3 of 9 and it’s been amazing, listening to this great story, 45 minutes every morning, 45 at night. I’m really enjoying the narrators voice, he’s a perfect choice. My mind wanders every so often and I have to rewind, but I’m the same way when I read. I skim without paying attention and have to go back a few pages and re-read.

My friend says she listens to audio books in her house while she’s doing housework or sewing. I think that’s a great idea. I haven’t gotten a decent pair of speakers for my iPod yet, but this makes me want to look into it.

(Audible.com is a great resource for audio books for those of you who are interested.)
