This is a picture of our mantel from a year or so ago, shown here for demonstration purposes. Last night I had a fire going and all the sudden, out of nowhere, the picture came CRASHING down taking the plant, candles, and a newly added reed-diffuser (FULL of pomegranate scented oil) with it. Dirt, broken glass, oil everywhere. I was in shock for about 5 minutes before I could even begin to clean it up.

It would have been a lot worse if the picture had been framed with real glass and not plexiglass (courtesy of Ikea). The biggest problem now is the lingering pomegranate-ish smell, which soaked into the wood floor.
