Did I mention we’re dog-sitting this week? This is Lucy, Cabell and Buster, all waiting to come in after playing a round of fetch in the yard. Cabell is our friend’s dog and he is a very, very good boy. As you can see he’s much bigger than we’re used to, and our house is only dog-proofed to about knee high. We learned quick to keep drinking glasses off the coffee table and moved all the ornaments up a foot or so on the Christmas tree. His tail is a deadly weapon! ;)

He was veeeery curious about the cats his first few days here. He’d stare them down and if they ran, he’d tear after them. Never to hurt them, but they were like toys… that moved! Shorty is a pretty fearless kitten and eventually got tired of hiding under the couch. She started to come out more, and we’d ask Cabell to sit while she walked by, and eventually it wasn’t such a big deal. Now she walks right by him and he just sighs a big Lab sigh. Unless she runs, he doesn’t even bat an eye. And if she does run, it’s usually on purpose because she likes a good chase as much as the dogs.
