I took a trek downtown this afternoon to take some photos. I was going to go to South First Street, but I was losing light so I kept going and went all the way to Town Lake. It worked out perfectly. The light was reflecting just right off the buildings and the sunset on the lake was beautiful.

I’ve always wondered what this tower was, so I looked it up when I got home (although I’m sure there was a historical plaque staring me smack in the face when I was there taking the picture). It was an old Fireman’s training tower. Full history here. Also, hellooooo wide angle!

On my way home I was stopped at a traffic light and looked up to see HUNDREDS of black birds. I know I’ve told you about this before, and taken pictures, but this was more than I’d ever seen before. I’m not sure these picture will do justice, you really have to witness it to believe just how MANY bird there are in Austin this time of year. See how the birds are lined up on the wires AND the buildings the background? They were on every wire and every building in EVERY direction all around me.

And then they took flight…
