Harrison is the big '1' this week! He's a mover and a shaker, walking all over the house. And what's the best part about turning 1? You get a whole cake ALL to yourself.

On the whole cake there was only a few tiny specs of black, and of COURSE that's what he went for. For the first few minutes it looked like he had a tiny mustache. It was pretty funny.

A few months ago my friend, Alex, asked if she could enter one of the photos I'd taken of her son in a photo contest. Heck yes! I need to be doing more of that myself. The contest was for Austin Family Magazine, "Austin's source for smart parenting and healthy homes". I gave my permission and didn't think much of it until right before the holidays when she let me know the photo had WON! Not only that, the contest was for one of their 2010 covers!

We're waiting to hear what month we'll be featured in. As soon as we know, I'll shout it from the mountain top (so you can grab tons of copies, of course). You can find the magazines in various places around town - it's in the major grocery stores, cafe's and doctor's offices.

That cutie at the bottom is Enzo! I took that during his mom's maternity session last year. Photos from that session (including the original one of Enzo) are over here if you'd like to take a look.

You might recognize this fella, I just can't get enough of him! It was a perfect day, Austin isn't quite ready to embrace fall. We took a walk thru the neighborhood, pulling Harrison in his brand new red wagon and then headed over to the park. It was a big day of firsts - first red wagon, first visit to a park, first trip down a slide and a swing on a swingset! Who knew 9 months was so exhausting!

What do you do when you're daughter's birthday is in August and it's so hot in Austin it feels like you're living on the surface of the sun? Have a pool party, of course! That's what these parents did and the kids had a GREAT time. Seriously! It's virtually impossible to complain about the heat when you're flying down a waterslide!

This little cutie pie's name is Gram, and his dad, Tom, asked me to take some photos of him on the sly as a surprise birthday gift for his mom, Anne Marie. When we were talking before the shoot, I asked Tom what Gram liked to do and where we should take the photos. Like a lot of boys his age, Gram loves playing at the park - swinging, running through the sprinkers, climbing on the jungle gym.

Tom said he also loves to 'spin.' As soon as he said that, my ears perked up and I knew the photo I wanted to take. It took quite a few attemps and Tom and I got good and dizzy, but I think it will be one of my favorites of all time:

I told Gram to try and 'get me' while he was swinging. By the end of this round of photos we were both laughing so hard.
