Smith Family: Arianna @ 6 Months

I took photos of Baby Arianna when she was a tiny newborn, so I couldn't believe when it was already time for her time for her 6 month session! It's amazing how much they change in these first few months. She laughs and smiles and has such a sweet, curious personality. And those eyes! She can't talk just yet (but that doesn't stop her from trying), but her eyes speak volumes!

Brooks Family: Harrison @ 2.5 Years Old

Guess who is 2.5 years old and growing like a weed? Harrison is! (He's growing like a very cute weed though. Just look at that face!) I can't believe I have been taking pictures of this handsome little man for 2 years now. I look back at our first session and shake my head. Where did the time go?

This is one of my favorite ages of child to photograph. They talk and talk and are so excited to play and show me things. They are usually very fast and furious sessions. I just try and keep up. :)

Available Light

I took a short workshop with Michael Long this weekend that focused on advanced portraiture and available light. I'd never worked w/ Michael before, and I was pleasantly surprised. We met at a great old farm north of Georgetown and worked with two beautiful, fun models. The light was challenging - bright midday sun and dark interiors - easy to become frustrated with all the harsh shadows. We focused on the positives and made the best out of what we had.

All said and done - remind me to never call light like this challenging ever again. After setting the models up over and over, you realize it's about making the light work to your advantage.

Tanya, High School Senior

I had a great session with Tanya, a beautiful High School senior, a few weeks ago. We battled c-r-a-z-y winds the whole shoot, but she was a trooper and we got some really fun shots.
