Portfolio
This is a collection of my favorite photos, the rest can be found on Flickr. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed taking them.

How it all Started

My first camera was a Kodak 110 pocket instamatic. I always felt very special holding the camera - people would get quiet, stand where you told them. And I LOVED getting the prints back from the store. I hung them up, made collages, sent them to my friends. The prints were the best part.

I didn’t pick up a camera again until I was in my early 20’s, despite having inspiration at my fingertips. My step-dad is a photographer, his gear and photos were all over our house. We visited the photo lab and frame store on a regular basis, and I watched him carefully compose and critique his pictures. Without realizing it, I was learning things from him that I wouldn’t need until years later.

Jef bought me my first digital camera when we lived in DC in 2002. It was a Nikon Cookpix 2500. It changed how I looked at the world. My pictures were not very good back then, but I was documenting everything. Jef has helped me find my eye. He can tell what I’m trying to capture, and has given me really good, practical advice.

Now, five years later, I have at least one camera with me at all times, often two or three.
